Camp Pendleton Boundary

Passing the fence at the south end of the State Beach property is an illegal entry onto Camp Pendleton Marine Base and is prohibited. The Military Police can and will cite you for trespassing on the base. In the past few years the Marines have not enforced this rule regularly. On infrequent occasions they would sweep their side of the beach and simply ask people to leave.

However, this year (2005), they have been issuing citations on frequent occasions. There are also plans to build a better fence and to put up improved signage. We have always recommended against going on to the Marine Base, and now it is even more important that beachgoers do not enter Camp Pendleton.

The State Parks Dept leases the land for San Onofre State Beach from Camp Pendleton. If we do not prove to be good neighbors, it could have a negative effect when the lease comes up for renewal.
